Located near one of the largest hubs of hiking trails, waterfalls, and camping sites in Western North Carolina, Brevard makes a great home for outdoor enthusiasts. This quaint city is centered around the historic downtown, with charming brick buildings lined streets with local businesses and restaurants and the warmth of pure southern hospitality. If you notice white squirrels planted in the trees and on the streetlights, you are not crazy. The local lore is that a carnival came to town in the early 20th century, where white squirrels escaped their entrapments once a caravan overturned, and now it represents Brevard as it's motif (and you may see one on quieter streets and in parks...they're real!)

Homes in Brevard have been built over many decades, ranging from early 1900's traditional homes to more country-sheik estates tucked away in the mountain ridges.  Prices for homes here are less than nearby Asheville and Hendersonville, but with the rising popularity of the Pisgah National Forest with adventurers, prices are increasing steadily. Residents here enjoy a more rural setting and frequenting small businesses, and do not mind a commute for the big box retailers and more conventional commercial areas. 

The Pisgah National Forest borders Brevard on the western edge, and has over 500,000 acres of protected and preserved land. With hundreds of hiking trails like the popular Looking Glass Trail and John Rock Trail, to the cascading waterfalls like Bridal Veil Falls, this area is bursting with things to do and see in the natural environment. As the location of the first Forestry School in the United States, Pisgah National Forest takes conservation seriously, so generations of residents can enjoy access to the natural world.
