East Asheville contains some of the most desirable neighborhoods in the area. Home to the Asheville Mall and Tunnel Road shopping district, the Blue Ridge Parkway, the VA Hospital, and the residential area of Haw Creek, this end of town offers more affordable living while still exploiting the best of shopping the the outdoors scene.  Communities in this area are often on rolling, hilly land, giving a mountainous feel without the hazards of steeper slopes. With both highway and local road access to Swannanoa and Black Mountain, this area of town is convenient to charming Downtown Black Mountain and the campus of Warren Wilson College, a local college focused on sustainability. 

Homes in East Asheville vary wildly in size, shape and style.  There are options for living on larger tracts of land with more privacy, to living in HOA governed communities with similar designs and aesthetics.  One of the best kept secrets, Fairview is a city lying just southeast of Asheville. The Fairview area is a mix of pastoral and mountainous land, and homes here often have some of the largest lot sizes available in the area. Expect to have land with more mature forested yards, sloping hills, and potentially even mountain views!    

One benefit of East Asheville is access to the Blue Ridge Parkway. As one of the nation's most scenic highways, the parkway offers some stellar vistas, hiking, and picnic areas for family friendly day trips. But even more importantly, the Blue Ridge Parkway is less congested shortcut to South Asheville, where a decent amount of our local companies are located. Skip the traffic for a drive through the forest!
