Enka

Tucked away in the rolling hills southwest of Asheville, you will find the charming pastoral setting of Enka. The area was originally named after the largest national rayon producing facility,  Nederlandse Kunstzijdefabriek. As the company expanded, they created a village to house the employees, affectionately named after the company's initials N.K. later becoming Enka. This area of town is predominantly residential, and is relatively less expensive than nearby Asheville and Hendersonville, all while lying just a short distance from their amenities. 

Homes in the Enka area are a mix of Farmhouse, Rancher, and Traditional home styles, with a new rush of new construction options available as well. D.R. Horton is building new subdivisions in the Candler area, however some new homes are offered by local builders as well. For luxury living in the Enka area, check out the master plan community of Biltmore Lake which offers its residents a wealth of outdoor activities and recreation within a short walk of their home. Enka is a great area for the active and families, as the Ferguson Family YMCA, NC Arboretum, and access to local hikes and water activities lie within a few mile drive. 

Residents favor living in Enka for many reasons, including the two tuition-free K-12 charter schools. Both IC Imagine and the Franklin School of Innovation lie within a couples miles of Enka's center, and offer innovative learning programs that feature hands-on learning in additional to more traditional curriculums. Additionally, Enka residents enjoy quick access to the commercial district off Smokey Park Highway and Patton Avenue, a few mile drive to the Asheville Outlets, and quick access to both I-40 and I-26. For more options, travel just ten minutes to the expanding West Asheville downtown area, or head to Downtown Asheville just beyond that where you can find the best of the local art, theater, brewery, music, and nightlife scenes. Mission Hospital is a 15 minute drive away, and the Asheville Regional Airport is conveniently 20 minutes away.
