Maggie Valley was originally a small residential settlement named after a blond-haired blue-eyed daughter of one of the original settlers, Maggie Mae Setzer. After remaining a quaint town for many years, Maggie Valley has started to experience a new chapter of outdoor enthusiasts enjoying the local attractions.

Tucked between two national parks in the Great Smoky Mountains, Maggie Valley has the small town feel and the quieter pace of life, and relatively more affordable housing in comparison to nearby Waynesville and Asheville. Homes here tend to lean into the rustic style, with many mountain modern, traditional cabin, and colonial rancher styles available for purchase. The land elevation in this area varies widely, offering many homes long range views of mountains and the Asheville valley to the east. This area is more affordable due to lower taxes and utility costs on average than other nearby cities, making this town a great place to find that mountain getaway without breaking the bank. 

Locals here are enamored with the amount of outdoor activities available. Take a day hike to see the cascading waters of Soco Falls or Graveyard Fields Falls, or ski and snowboard to your hearts content in the Cataloochee Ski Area each winter. On the rare occasion, you may even sight an elk, known to inhabit Maggie Valley and the surrounding forest. After working up a sweat, grab a bite an one of the local eateries. Catch an early morning breakfast at Joey's Pancake House, or share a large plate of authentic Italian pasta at Snappy's Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria, serving Maggie Valley since 1989. 

This town lies just a 15 minute drive to quaint Waynesville, which offers a picturesque downtown area, big box retailers, and the Haywood Regional Medical Center for your health needs. Or travel just 40 minutes to the artsy and bustling Asheville, where you can also get medical attention at Mission Hospital or travel out of state at the Asheville Regional Airport. Maggie Valley truly is rural living with the best of urban amenities right nearby.
