North Asheville

Centered around the University of North Carolina Asheville campus, North Asheville is a predominantly residential area with a close-knit neighborhood charm. This area features a district of historical homes called the Montford, right north of Downtown, where the architecture leans Victorian and Old World Southern with some modern twists.

Slightly north of Montford is Beaver Dam, a community of unique and upscale homes that border Beaver Lake, a local's spot for walking trails and fishing. Just up the road from there, the luxury community of Reynolds Mountain sits mountaintop with a commercial shopping district called Reynolds Village at the base with gyms, salons, restaurants or more. 

North Asheville even contains a smaller town called Woodfin, a developing area of town that is well known for cheaper utilities and taxes than is offered in Asheville City proper. 

North Asheville has amenities concentrated around two main veins, Merrimon Avenue and Charlotte Street. Merrimon Avenue is littered with restaurants, bars, coffee shops and shopping predominantly visited by locals from nearby neighborhoods. Charlotte Street offers its own bunch of shop and eateries, but continues on through the Grove Park Inn historical district where you find some of the most unique homes in the area. And of course, a visit to the Grove Park Inn for a sunset cocktail is always in order. With access to I-26 as well, this area of town is highly convenient for most lifestyles.
