Homes in

Winding north of Beaver Lake and the University of North Carolina, you will find the quaint town of Woodfin. Less than ten square miles total, Woodfin has become a popular place to purchase a home in the Asheville area. Why?'s developing and it's cheaper! Homes in this area were built over a large span of time, mostly featuring cute cottages and bungalows with a mix of new construction and other styles between. Homeowners moving into this area are lovingly restoring the older homes, bringing up the local aesthetic to the fun and colorful vibes of West Asheville. Commercial development is moving up Old Weaverville Highway (the same as Merrimon Avenue, just more north), and so you will find unique shops and eateries along your way. Stop for a coffee at Asheville's Coffee Roasters, or grab a unique plant from Thyme in the Garden nursery. Some building are currently under construction, making way for new economic growth in the Woodfin area.

How is Woodfin cheaper? The Town of Woodfin is a separate taxing entity than the City of Asheville, and homes here on average pay far less for taxes than their Asheville counterparts. Utilities here are also billed through the town, and residents save marginally in comparison. As Woodfin begins to attract more homeowners and developers, housing prices are likely to climb and quickly. If you're looking for the opportunity to make good returns on your purchase, consider looking in this area.

Woodfin is located the at top of Merrimon Avenue, which houses bars, restaurants, and stores frequented by many North Ashevillians. If you drive a few miles north, the town of Weaverville has a quaint downtown area with an artsy flair, hosting cute bakeries and modern galleries on a historic streetscape. Weaverville also has shopping areas with large retailers like Lowe's, Walmart, and Home Depot. This town enjoys quick access to I-26, which is a main highway that runs north to south and spans the entire Asheville area. Although Woodfin is tucked away north of the city, you can still reach Mission Hospital in 12 minutes, and the Asheville Regional Airport in 20 minutes.
